I’ve been thinking a lot these past weeks about all of the things that have happened in 2020. We have a pandemic that the majority of us have no idea how to handle. We have working / schooling from home, isolation, cancelled trips, opportunities, jobs…….fear on all fronts…..and the mental stress that results from all of it. Then we have the huge societal shift that has begun in our country. Emotions are running high. A lot of people are confused. A lot of people are angry. A lot of people are sad or feel ashamed. A lot of people are ignoring it all.
I can only speak for myself. This is what I believe. I believe that the pandemic put our minds into a place that will allow us to heal and step up to a higher level of collective awareness. By “collective awareness”, I mean that we, as a people, will raise our thoughts as a “whole” and as a “whole” will become a better society.
I’m seeing it every day. Being isolated from our normal routines has made us more aware of what is “most important”. We have had more time to think, to ponder, to reflect….more time to be grateful and to show gratitude. More time to dream…..This reflective state is perfect to then embrace all that is happening in our country.
We don’t all have to agree. We can each have different opinions and take different actions. We get to be aware of what we’re thinking so that we can then make choices with clear minds. I know that I have felt a shift within me as I have begun to “see what others see”. This time that we are living in is remarkable and I believe we will all look back with reverence for all the people who lived NOW. As each one of us makes a change, no matter how small, the “whole” make a change in response.
It’s like the pebble skipping on the pond…..the ripples are felt. They are always felt. My determination is to become a better version of myself, layer upon layer……because then I can help others to become a better version of themselves….and we all benefit.
